This year, once again has seen a steady flow of people utilising the Rose Blank Gallery and the centre in general.

Our museum project has been moving slowly, but surely . We are now officially registered as a member of the Heritage North Association, that promotes all Far North Queensland Museums, Cominos House has been included in their latest publicity brochure. With the help of expert advisors including Cairns City Council's museum co-ordinator Maria Friend, Les Sim from Cairns Historical Society an d our consultant Geoff Morton, we hope to be able to officially open the museum at the end of this year. Our garden project is also coming along, some thinning out of vegetation and new plantings, according to our garden plan has taken place during the year.

We have continued to express our concerns to Cairns City Council regarding high sewerage charges as a result of the excess toilet facilities installed. The Cairns City Council has acknowledge the problem, but do not appear interested in doing anyth ing about it.. Unfortunately the sewerage charges still take a great hunk out of our income for the year and the Management Board has the responsibility to try to solve the problem to achieve effective management of the House.

Our web-site has commenced utilising the free hosting service offered by the State Library of Queensland's Community Web Publishing Program. We intend to negotiate a specific link with Cairns City Council. Many thanks to our caretaker who continues to ensure smooth operation of the centre and keep the floor shiny in the Rose Blank Gallery.

I would like to personally thank the Management Committee for their help and support during the year, it certainly relieves the pressure. \par "Friends of Cominos"- like us all - have challenging times ahead as circumstances and conditions change. I hope that the new committee with commitment from Cairns City Council will continue to make the centre a true home for Arts and Environment activities.

Thank you

Lone White.
