FRIENDS OF COMINOS HOUSE
Friends of Cominos House is an incorporated Association registered in the state of Queensland. Members come from a broad cross section of people interested in conserving Cominos House, and contributing to the broader arts & environment communities.
The management committee consists of members of the organisation elected at the AGM.
They are tasked with the stewardship of Cominos House for future generations and to support environmental and artistic endeavours in Far North Queensland.
On 30 October 1991 "Friends of Cominos House Inc." (FOCH) was incorporated under the Queensland Associations Incorporation Act 1981.
The objectives of the organisation are:

To manage the use of Cominos House to provide a home for Cairns and Far North Environment Centre, Visual Arts Association and associated organisations

To manage Cominos House as a facility for community groups to utilise

To conserve Cominos House as an example of an old Queenslander style building

To ensure that if the organisation dissolves, any funds remaining are donated to a like-minded organisation

To ensure that Cominos House is available for public inspection by appointment

To continue to maintain a museum of memorabilia of the history of Cominos House
The management committee meets every two months. It is tasked with maintaining the building and gardens, and providing access and support for Environmental and Arts groups from Far North Queensland. The running costs are met from rent income and hire charges from the Rose Blank Gallery. The Arts & Environment Centre is required to be run on a commercial basis, paying rates, insurance and general maintenance costs from income earned. The association leases Cominos House from Cairns Regional Council.
The upstairs floor of Cominos House is permanently tenanted by the Cairns & Far North Environment Centre and Visual Arts Association of Far North Queensland, and the community space downstairs, is used for seminars, workshops and community meetings.
